Before playing Bovada Blackjack for real money you need to understand the basics of the game. The aim when playing Blackjack is to try and get a hand to the value of 21. If not 21 then as close to 21 as possible. Hence why the game is commonly referred to as “twenty one”. In the event of no hand being 21, the hand closest to 21 (without going over 21 and busting) is the winning hand. Typically two to eight decks of cards are used at the table. The cards are stored in a “shoe”. After all the cards are shuffled, each player is dealt 2 cards, while the dealer is dealt only 1 card.
The value of the cards are as follow: Jack, Queen, King are all worth 10. The Ace can be 1 or 11. All numbered cards are taken at face value.
All the top online casinos like Bovada offer Blackjack games to their players. Some of them also offer live dealer Blackjack with multiplayer tables. There are many online Blackjack variants, and each variation of the game has its own set of rules and payouts that all players must adhere to. After the initial hand is dealt to the player, the player may take one of the following actions:
The casino player may decide to stand not wishing to receive any more cards. Because the value of the player's initial hand is either 21 or very close to 21. Therefore the player does not wish risk obtaining a value greater than 21. Likewise if you bust you automatically lose, regardless of the dealer’s hand.
The player may decide to hit (request another card) in order to try and reach a card value as close to 21 as possible.
The player doubles his/her initial bet and then gets one more card. Doubling down is usually restricted to a hand total of 9, 10, 11 although some casinos allow you to double down on any 2 cards.
If the first 2 cards in the player’s hand are identical in value, then the player may decide to split the cards and play the cards as two separate hands. The player must wager the same number of chips on the second hand as initially wagered on the first two cards before the player split them.
After the player has been dealt his/her hand(s), the dealer must turn his initial card to face upwards before drawing a second card from the shoe. The hand closest to 21 wins. If the initial two cards drawn have a value of 21 (eg. Ace and a King), then it's a blackjack. In a normal blackjack game, if the player gets a blackjack it pays 3 to 2. So, a $5 bet would win $7.50. If the hands of the player and the dealer are equal in value, then it is a tie, and neither the player or dealer wins.
If the dealer’s first exposed card is an Ace, then insurance is offered to the player. This means if the dealer gets blackjack, the player gets 2 to 1 on the insurance wager, but still loses their initial wager. Here's the Biggest BJ Tip NEVER TAKE INSURANCE IN BLACKJACK
